Training course for the Teaching of English in Primary Schools
The course will only take place if a minimum of 25 participants have enrolled.
Course offer and study regulations
The Faculty of Education of the Free University of Bozen/Bolzano, with its premises in Brixen/Bressanone, together with the Office for Italian Schools and the Italian Pedagogic Institute, the Office for German schools and the German Pedagogic Institute, and the Office for Ladin Schools and the Ladin Pedagogic Institute, offers a training course for Teaching English in South Tyrolean Primary Schools. The course is designed to provide professional training, takes place in Brixen/Bressanone and is organized over four semesters. It started in September 2007 and will finish by the end of September 2009. All exams are also taken in Brixen/Bressanone.

Course objectives
The course aims to provide students with in integrative, interactive and individual preparation in the English language and in the skills needed to teach it at primary school level taking into consideration the latest developments in education and teaching methodology. Students are trained to integrate into their teaching repertoire activities and content that activate their pupils’ desire to discover, interest and creative development when interacting with English.
- The course comprises 380 hours of lessons, of which 80 hours are initial language classes in order to improve the language skills of the students.
- Each subject has a final exam.
- The course ends with the discussion of a piece of written work.
Participants are provided with a certificate that attests that they have attended a training course to teach English in primary schools. This certificate lists the subjects taken, the number of hours attended, the mark and credit points achieved for any recognition requirements for further courses at the Free University of Bozen/Bolzano.
